Would you be able to shoot the dog?

Personally, I could never do that. I actually found that scene a little hard to watch. Any thoughts?

Yup, no problem!

"Yup, no problem!", says 'dglover26'. Shoot yourself instead (Y)

reply

no. but then i wouldn't be a spy or whatever they are supposed to be in the first place. i suppose you have to be very ruthless.

James Bond's a psychopath. They weren't training psychos!...actually, don't remember much combat traing at all. Shooting the dog should've been a fail - the film missed its own ethos.

James Bond's a psychopath.

Probably, but this isn't a Bond film.

They weren't training psychos!...actually, don't remember much combat traing at all.

Maybe not intentionally. Or, were they? And, your not seeing something doesn't deny its existence. There were some positive mentions of combat training achievements, despite not actually seeing much combat training, or achievements.

Shooting the dog should've been a fail - the film missed its own ethos.

That was the point of the entire movie. No ethos left unturned. No extreme left unexplored!

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

Part of the training for Hitler's Henchman was to get ordinary men, give them a German Shepherd puppy, take it everywhere, sleep with them, then after the puppy becomes a dog, wring their necks.

Not in a million years. No job is worth it.

I actually thought the test was going to be that if you followed such an order you would not be "Kingsmen" material, since there was absolutely no reason to kill the dog except to follow orders. I think that the value of NOT doing it would show that the Kingmen are not "Hitler's Henchmen" and that they are supposed to be able to think for themselves to determine if a killing needs to be done, you know "Gentlemen First" kind of code of honor.
That whole scene felt off, I thought it was going to be the hint of Arthur as having turned. Then with both 1)the other agent-in-training pulling the trigger and 2) Firth being p*ssed off that Eggsy threw his chance away I realized I misread the scene completely. THEN when it is revealed that the gun was not loaded it became a matter of the test being "can you figure out if we are pulling your chain again", like with the parachute.
The scene just didn't fit for me and I wish this movies 'Cinemasins' had not been blocked so I could see what those guys had to say about it.

reply

Yes. It's just a stupid dog.

A cat, that would be difficult. But a dog? No problem.

Never trust a black man named "Chip."

Yes, if I had already come that far in applying for that line of work, yes.

If someone just approached me out of the blue and said shoot a dog, *beep* no!
