this will be in top 5 box office opening weekend

This is the final film to one of the greatest trilogies in many years so people will be dying to see it. I'm not predicting it will be #1 at the box office opening weekend but it will DEFINITELY be in the top 5.

I'm already planning to get my tickets in advance. I only wish Esai Morales and Taylor Shilling would've reprised their roles.

Objectivists won't be the only ones "flocking in droves" to see this because, after all, everyone knows that Part III is by far the best part of the novel.

While the first 2 films were a bit disappointing, there's no doubt in my mind that this film will be the best of the great trilogy.

Even Leonard Peikoff supposedly said this and so has everyone else I've spoken to who is looking forward to seeing Rand's masterwork come to a satisfying conclusion.

This trilogy can and, I think, will be an important step in introducing an entirely new generation to the wonderful philosophy of Objectivism.

Once younger people with intelligent, rational minds watch all 3 of these films back-to-back, most of them will purchase the novel. They'll most likely buy Rand's other classics (e.g. We The Living; The Fountainhead) and then Rand's popularity will soar once again as it had before.

Who else is wearing their "Who is John Galt?" t-shirt at the theatre on opening weekend?

I haven't been this much excited since I saw Jason Miller's film adaptation of his Pulitzer-Prize winning play "That Championship Season." And that film was phenomenal! See you at the movies!

"That Championship Season" (1982) - Most underrated movie of all time.

$35,000,000 has been spent on this pet project, and generated only just under $8,000,000 so far. So you Randroids are going to have to buy up all the tickets for every showing at every single theater for the entire week it'll be released before it gets replaced with and promptly outgrossed by This Is Where I Leave You if you want this to have even a remote prayer of breaking even.

Your replies will be graded & possibly used as material in future projects.

@LiberalFilmFan Top 5? Too vague - predict the opening weekend figure.

Opening weekend prediction = 1.85M min - 2.15M max.

You read it here first.

I think it's pretty obvious the OP posted this in jest.

Even though there are only a couple of movies opening this weekend, this one is destined to tank big time. It's bad enough that they did not trust people in labeling the movie as "part three", those who have not seen both of the first movies will be shaking their heads even harder than those who did see them (another cast change?!?).

Okay, I just came back from seeing it at the local AMC and they showed it in their largest non-specialty theater. I counted five people in the theater and asked the ticket lady at the end of the show if earlier showings did better (apparently, they did worse). I know it's early but when episode 2 played, it was scheduled for two weeks but left after one, this in a location deep in the Bible Belt of GOP, libertarian, and neo-cons that so often espouse Rands works.

Lest I be lumped in with the liberal haters, the blind masses, or some other group because no rugged individualist could possibly find fault with the ideas behind the movie, sarcasm intended, I pick and choose the best of current ideas as they apply to me in a manner I think Rand would appreciate. Even the biggest supporters of her works, maybe ESPECIALLY those types, should encourage others to just read the book (it was that bad).

The acting was worse than volume 2, the stilted dialogue and presentation of core ideas handled so poorly that it crossed my mind those producing and involved in the creative aspects of making the movie were sabotaging them on purpose. The extensive use of narrative was probably included due to the poor showing of the initial volumes and was not just preachy but insulting at times. The stock footage and two dimensional villains were as bad as the cameos, the overall technical aspects of the movie making it look and sound like a badly executed freshman film school effort.

My advice for those curious of the messages being discussed, go borrow the book from the library or buy a copy. Read it critically and pass it on to a friend, you can buy a copy for less than the price of a movie ticket. Some of the ideas are as old as recorded history, just as the themes were not new 50+ years ago, apply just about as much now as back then, but read it with a grain or several of salt to get the most out of it.

I would think Rand's fans would be the ones most angry about this horrible train wreck (pun intended), instead of blindly rushing to defend it, particularly this final insult.

Half way through watching it, I thought "You know, if the Campus Socialist Club" had set out to make Ayn Rand look bad, they really couldn't have done a better job".
