It was good, but not great

I was torn on whether it was worth seeing it at the movies. I thought part 2 was pretty good and was intrigued on where they’re were gonna go with this one. So I’ve seen it today finally..

Oh, brother… What the hell happened? I thought this one’s gonna be better. I mean I expected it to be bigger. Bigger in scope, more creative, you know. It had a bigger budget. Where did all the money go? Must be on Clint Howard and Tom Savini I guess. Jason Patrick too.
Act III felt rushed. And then we see Art at the end again tooting his horn. That’s it? That was it? Yeah, there was gore. But it’s nothing like we haven’t seen it before in other horror films. Seen it all before. I don’t know, but part 2 felt stronger. Just that one bedroom scene alone. I think they didn’t top it this time.

I agree. All in all I just don't think Damien Leone is a good writer. I get that this is his baby and all but it may be time to get some other talent in the room to help fill in the gaps of this franchise. Since the 2nd one, the direction reminds me of what 80s slashers inevitably go through after their 4th or 5th installment where there's nowhere left to take the story. Here we're at 3 so there's no excuse.
