"Impeachment" and "The Thing About Pam" : Pretty Women in Fat Suits and Ugly Faces as Villains
The two series did not come out at the same time, but I had reason to watch "Impeachment" and "The Thing About Pam" :nini-mini-series" around the same time.
And the thing I noticed was this:
The "evil" characters of Pam Hupp(Renee Zellwegger) and Linda Tripp(Sarah Paulson) were played by younger (well, prettier, maybe not younger) actresses, each wearing fat suits and facial make-up that were more like "ugly masks." Its like we were invited to watch these fat, waddling, slightly limping characters as villains BECAUSE they were so unattractive.
It worked. Now, Pam was worse than Linda -- Pam was a likely psychotic killer of three people -- but in both cases, these grotesque women were the focus for the whole story: the women you love to hate.
I think the only "special" thing about this is that the two performances have shown up so close in time on TV -- they are liked a "matched pair" of attractive women done up fat and ugly for evil.
