Rock Dropping: Any Strategy?

This latest HoH competition, press the buzzer when you think 1,000 rocks have fallen. Closest wins.

If Big Brother drops rocks on a semi-random basis and drops multiple rocks at the same time, adds long, boring gaps, distracting steam and noise, and so on, it would seem difficult for anyone to accurately count to a thousand. And, anyone that can, good on ya.

But, for everyone else, is there a decent strategy to fake your way through it?

If you had a watch, you could count the number of rocks that fall in 15 minutes and then multiply that out and estimate the time it takes to hit 1,000.

Or, with six players playing, do you just wait until two people hit the buzzer and then you hit it next? You'd know that you beat two people (since BB didn't stop the game and announce a winner).

And, if you decide to count them, do you count on your fingers and toes or just keep track in your mind?

This is probably the stupidest competition. Not because of the rock dropping. Because why the hell would a family member with outside knowledge have the right to try to win an HOH for someone. What if that houseguest doesn't even want to win an HOH?

Dr. Will never won a single comp in his BB career except for season 2 win. He was literally on the block and the veto comp rather then eat a bowl of slop to move on to the next round he pressed the red buzzer to quit.

This is the point in the game where u win HOH one week, you are evicted the following week.

BBCAN seems that way. The brothers won HoH last week without any effort on their part. Canada seems to like to HoH somewhat randomly. And, if you are made HoH without your consent, you just target a couple of floaters and move on.

That's because the power of HoH usually goes to the person's head and they begin to think that they are king of the world. They are such a jerk that the next HoH sees them as an easy target. But, if you are humble and just nominate people without being mean, people will instantly forget about you next week.

Plus, if you didn't even try to win HoH, like this week when the loved ones did all the work, the other players won't really hold that against you.

It's a double edged sword. At this point u have couples in the game.

Jared/Kelsey

Tim/Cassandra

What's even more complicated is that Tim/Nikki are sort of something and so is Cassandra and Jared.

At this point whomever you nominate is gonna piss off more then one person. Someone like Joel doesn't really need HOH. Should just win it at final 4. Final 4 HOH all it does is guarantee you final 3. The veto win at final 4 is important one.

But, if you won the HoH without your consent and are tactful about how you nominate people, the survivor won't really hold it against you. "Blah, blah, blah, never really got to know you" or "You nominated me in week two so I'm just returning the favor."

It's when you are mean and power-crazed that people turn around and evict you the next week.

Look at Tim. He cleanly nominated two people and no one seems to be holding any kind of grudge and he wasn't nominated for a month. And, even then, for completely unrelated reasons.

Yeah but u just said it yourself. He wasn't nominated for a month. I'm talking about at this rate.

He also used the gummy bears as an excuse to nominate people.

Now we only have 3 weeks left and nobody cares how you won HOH. This is drawing a line in the sand. Whomever you nominated you're showing which side you're on.

Still, by this point in the game, everyone should clearly understand where everyone else stands. Unless you back stab an ally, it won't be any worse for you nominating an enemy. Heck, once the HoH is revealed, everyone pretty much knows who will be nominated.

So, as I say, at this point in the game, being HoH doesn't make things any worse for you and has the benefit of removing one of your enemies.

This is the point in the game where you and your alliance wins one week or one of you is going home.

reply

Yeah but usually they target the last HOH in the other alliance.

reply

Maybe. But if you all have that attitude then your alliance will just get picked off. Not very helpful. You all have to try, to try and make sure there isn't a week you're not in power.

Of course that's how it should work. I suppose in reality they throw in so many twists and random elements it's hard to have any strategy at all. This is the second week in a row the house has no control over who gets HOH, it's ridiculous.

I think Erin the producer has a really creative artistic mind when it comes to the house theme like the casino and working with the designer. I think the challenges look amazing. But she is the worst when she handles twists. I know she's probably not the idea person. She has people working under her and she takes the ideas. But she isn't good.

With 6 competeing you want to hit your buzzer 4th - in the middle
