The fifth season will debut in 2018 as part of Disney's celebration of Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary. It will take the series total to more than 90 shorts and include a special 7-minute birthday episode.

I hope they will show up on YouTube.

So I can't do sums!

I mean I understand that Mickey is based on Steamboat Willie who first debuted in 1928 but there's rumour that an earlier cartoon called Plane Crazy was held back and so Mickey's inspiration goes back further than Steamboat.

Either way, his copyright is up in 6 years and so watch as we lose the right to progress so Disney can milk their sacred mouse.

Plane Crazy also came out in 1928. The debate whether or not it was first only goes back 6 months, to mid 1928, so either way, the year remains the same.

Depending on where you are in the year Underdog.

That's why people have birthdays.

Did the discussion change from actual age to specific birthday? The age, in years, is unchanged whether the birthday is in the beginning, middle, or end.

Maybe I misunderstood. It sounded as if you questioned whether or not he was older than 90, since his debut could possibly have been prior to Steamboat Willie. That other possible debut also occurred in 1928, so the age would remain the same regardless of which title you believe was first.

The board I came in on was "Mickey's 60th Birthday" where you have rightly put me right that he would be 90 this year.

Plane Crazy screened May 15th 1928 to a testing audience. Steamboat Willie was released on November 18th to general audiences.

Whichever one you decide was the day of his birth is yours to decide until Disney make a thing of it.

His 60th was released on November 13th and so perhaps that's the part of the year Disney choose to make his Birthday. If you choose to believe that he's currently 89 up until the middle of November that's fine with me.

He's a fictional talking mouse. I'm just noting that his copyright should be ending soon and how I don't think Disney will be letting that happen.
