Awful film, let alone a sequel.
I waited with baited breath to see this, as i love the original.
What a fuckin sad pile of crap- bitter, humourless and futile. Sad memory and a huge opportunity squandered.

This film is basically Danny Boyle's attempt at "Once Upon a Time in America". You have the same premise with older characters revisiting the past while trying to move forward and failing. Sergio Leone's movie still did a better job.
T2 felt more like a retread at every plot point. Boyle should have written about Renton in some other country doing newer and different things, even if they were criminal.
It was just sad and bitter?
shareMore or less, yes. But that's... real life! The craziness of your twenties is succeeded by the apathy and disillusionment of your forties. And that's Mark's new life: no newer, different and criminal things, just... something ordinary. That's why I personally consider T2 to be a good sequel and a great movie.
