When this film was announced, my first though was "What's the point?"
Now that I've seen this film, my though is "What's the point?"
This film is not needed. It is vastly inferior to the original.
None of the dark comedy. None of the edge. No point.
Yup.
While I've seen worse films, this seemed like mostly a vanity project for Mr. Boyle, who somehow suckered the rest of them into it.
There seemed to be some sort of new thread with Spud's writing efforts, but that pretty much fizzled out.
And then Veronika makes off with the loot. I guess the story is "yeah, these guys are all still losers".
It's a nostalgia re-make....and of course 20 years later.....we don't have the same edge
But bullocks to you make, i'll take this film!
While I was watching it I was thinking this exact same thing "What's the poing in all this?".
I don't know whether to applaud it for being different from the original, or not, but I was disappointed by this film. Not because it was different, but on a basic, it's just not that interesting or engaging level. This did not feel like a Danny Boyle film.
I guess life is much duller when you're off the heroin...
