Does it need to be as good as the first?

I'm so looking forward to seeing this, the trailers have made me all nostalgic for a film that was icon of my youth and probably every British kid who grew up at the time.

I'm nervous too...although I always wanted to catch up with the characters again I really don't want a bad film that gives rise to "Love Trainspotting...pity about the squeal". I think I'll just settle for a good film that lets us have another night with the boys, a good soundtrack and makes us believe we are watching the same characters 20 years on.

The cast seem pretty protective of the first film, stating that they are only doing it because the script is right and also that it is not a mega-budget and they are all doing it for relatively modest pay, so I'm quite hopeful.

Love is the law...

Based on everything i've heard/seen from interviews and trailers etc, i'm assuming it'll be as good as it could possibly be. Danny Boyle is crazy enough to still have that spark to his work, he's shown time and time again that he's an effective director.. and i've seen nothing but praise for the script from the actors. Pretty much the same crew from the first as well.. so everything is in place. They've done all they can, so i'll accept and enjoy whatever we get.

Not that reviews ultimately matter (only opinion that matters is your own) but there's very few reviews that are negative. The majority is positive to very positive. There's nothing to worry about here.

I have no allusions that it will be as good as the first one obviously. It seems though that everyone working on it loves and respects the first one enough not to completely ruin this one.

As long as it doesn't follow the 'Force Awakens' approach, which relied too heavily on simple nostalgic (formulated) gimmicky moments.
