I'm really happy with the choice of music for the new trailer, especially the inclusion of Wolf Alice, it seems the Danny has kept the classic trainspotting sound whilst also adding some great upcoming British artists, I know some people don't care about soundtracks but I think that the soundtrack in the original film was one of the things that helped make it so good, and I'm pleased to see that from what's been seen so far that Danny has done the same fantastic job on this soundtrack
1. ‘Lust For Life’ – Iggy Pop (The Prodigy Remix) 2. ‘Shotgun Mouthwash’ – High Contrast 3. ‘Silk’ – Wolf Alice 4. ‘Get Up’ – Young Fathers 5. ‘Relax’ – Frankie Goes To Hollywood 6. ‘Eventually But (Spud’s letter to Gail)’ – Underworld, Ewen Bremner 7. ‘Only God Knows’ – Young Fathers 8. ‘Dad’s Best Friend’ – The Rubberbandits 9. ‘Dreaming’ – Blondie 10. ‘Radio Ga Ga’ – Queen 11. ‘It’s Like That’ – RUN-DMC, Jason Nevins 12. ‘(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais’ – The Clash 13. ‘Rain Or Shine’ – Young Fathers 14. ‘Whitest Boy On The Beach’ – Fat White Family 15. ‘Slow Slippy’ – Underworld
What about PF Project and their Choose Life track.
And even better the Moonman Remix of that track.
Search it; PF Project Feat. Ewen McGreggor - Choose Life (Moonman Remix) the best track of the lot. I just wish there could be a Ferry Corsten Pres. Moonman Remix 2017. With updated Ewen McGreggor speech and a longer version too.
Underworld's Rick Smith confirmed they are working on the music for the new movie with Danny Boyle, so it will definitely feature more than Born Slippy. In fact I'd be suprised if Born Slippy were only used for the trailer and doesn't appear in the movie given Underworld have so many better tracks and that one has an iconic relationship with the first movie.
Here's what was posted on Underworld's site last night:
“I’ve often said that when Danny Boyle asks you to get involved in something, you don’t say no. You choose yes. Now it’s twenty years on and the whole family is back on the train… what an amazing journey it’s been.” (r)
Rick’s relationship with Danny Boyle started in 1996 when two Underworld tracks were used in the screen version of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. Underworld’s tracks continued to appear in Boyle’s films with the band scoring his film Sunshine and the National Theatre production of Frankenstein. Boyle engaged Rick as Musical Director for the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, and shortly afterwards he created the score for Boyle’s trippy heist movie Trance.
This year they are back working together, along with the original team on the hugely anticipated sequel to Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting, which is released on 27th January 2017.
Loads of people care about soundtracks. It's a massive part of what brings the emotion from a film. If you took any film and take every piece of music out of it, people would complain. From some people, I reckon they subconsciously take in the music without seeing it. I agree with your post though and can't wait to see what other songs are on the full soundtrack
without wishing to sound smug, I had much of the original Trainspotting soundtrack in my disparate CD collection prior to convincing my student flatmates to spend drinking money on tickets for the film upon its original release.
Original film was in C4 the other night, it still stands up well after 20 years distance.
I guess for T2 - aside from personally chosen tunes - there will be much trustworthy commissioned cues / pieces from Underworld and others.
keen to find a cinema seat in the next week or so.
