TS was one of the seminal 90s film that Empire really went mad for (the other being Pulp Fiction. both given 5/5) so 3/5 is quite shocking. Like if QT had directed PF2 and Empire gave it 3/5

Empire gave Back to the Future 5 stars and Back to the Future II 3 stars...so I'm very hopeful.
Back to the future II is way more clever than than the first film imo.
It seems they are a magazine that is prejudiced to sequels.

Empire have really gone off the boil over the years giving some right suspicious reviews (I still remember the Terminator Salvation backlash), and they're not afraid of dramatically changing review scores once they've reached DVD. I wouldn't look into their review score too much.

They gave Attack of the clones and Superman returns 5 star reviews so they're reviews mean *beep*

shareI don't know - most of those scores are generally what I might expect, depending on the reviewer. Some like those trashy blockbusters like AoU and Suicide Squad (although I thought they were both terrible).
I remember they gave The Pianist 2/5 too
On another magazine back around then, DVD Review, I remember that gave Donnie Darko a terrible review, I don't think that reviewer ever worked again.

Empire Reviews mean NOTHING. Human Centipede 3 got 4 stars there's also been lots of other questionable ratings,
shareStrange thing is if I'd only read the words of the review and had to guess the rating I woulda guessed a 4/5 stars. The rating doesn't seem to match the writeup anyways.
