I don't understand the hype about this movie!

I remember Trainspotting was a dreary, tragic movie. And it didn't feel at all like it needed a continuation.

And now, people seem to be treating T2 as a godsend because omg let's relive the Trainspotting universe(?!).

I have a feeling i might have missed parts of the zeitgeist between 96-2005, because I was a little ѕhit in those years (as opposed to now, being a medium ѕhit).

Trainspotting had downer moments but it also had consistent energy. It's generally a fun movie.

I don't see the need for a sequel, but I definitely get why people are looking forward to it. Based on the trailer, this doesn't seem like just another assembly line cash grab. It actually looks surprisingly good.

Yes, definitely.

That was my lasting impression from watching it anyway. But I only saw it once... like 7-10 years ago.

After working in the medical sector for 15 years+ this movie just shouldn't be possible. Half of them would be dead or at least missing limbs. I highly doubt they'd have a full set of teeth as they'd no doubt have been put on a methadone plan.

You work in medicine and still believe that old myth? I've been on methadone for 18 months 65ml daily and before that I smoked every day for 5 years and people always say how nice my teeth are.
A lot of my friends who are addicts have missing teeth etc but it's the lifestyle not the drugs. Heroin destroys your motivation (along with everything else) and people are just too lazy to care about hygiene, all they care about is getting next fix.
i know meth weakens your bones etc so that would include teeth but as long as you use your toothbrush everyday you can have heroin and teeth.

Have you even seen Trainspotting? Renton quits dope at the end of the story, Tommy dies from disease that was greatly contributed by his reckless addiction to dope, Sick boy isn't as physically addicted as the others and can quit with somewhat ease, Begbie doesn't do dope at all, Mother Superior loses his leg because of his addiction (you see this in a deleted scene) and Spud is really only the last real dopehead left standing by the film's end. So no, most of the characters haven't continued or began an dope by T2. Watch the film next time.
