Spud (spoilers)

Liked the film, thought it was good, not a patch on the original, though. What I liked most was how Spud basically becomes the substitute for Irvine Welsh by writing the novel which becomes Trainspotting. The cynic in me wants to say that this is a handy way to boost sales for the novel (and inflate Welsh's bank balance). But I can't help but think it was a very inventive way to tie the novel, the original film, and the sequel all together in a neat, tidy fashion.

Highly recommended.

Spud's story is the screenwriter's John Hodge's story according to Danny Boyle in an interview.

I burst into tears at Gail saying "I know what you should call your book."
