is this based on a book. Which one?
Is it?
shareApparently it's loosely based on Porno which was the sequel to the novel Trainspotting.

thanks for replying
share"loosely based on Porno "
All right ! I feel better now, I was really worried.
Yeah, they haven't really said how closely or not closely they follow it, just that it's "loosely" based on it. I'd say a lot of it is probably new stuff.

Honestly, I read the book back in 2002, so I wouldn't know what was original and what was new stuff. I hope the film is way more memorable.
sharegoogle it you twit!
shareWell in theory on "Porno" BUT seeing that their is a 9 year old -Renton,etc..
It could be some experts original book TRAINSPOTTING, which had them younger... or.. just should I say, it had renton thinking when they were younger.
Plus I saw they had Begbies father , so it might be borrowing form the book :TRAINSPOTTING.
So, my calculated guess is that it borrows from PORNO, TRAINSPOTTING ..and a little of John Hodge..

Fair enough. I confused it with TRAINSPOTTINg the book.. When Renton thinks back...or was Skagboyz... When he thinks a Begdie *beep* the ground while they are all admireing some mini-skirt girl.
In the book they were like 14...but go figure..in the movies.
Begbies father is def in TRAINSPOTTINg book.
It picks a fair bit up from Porno...it also brings in a bit from the original Novel which didn't feature in the first film.

It's very, very loosely based 'Porno'. It's a long time since I read it but, as I remember, this story bears very little resemblance to the one in the book.
shareThe end-credits state that the movie is based on both "Porno" and "Trainspotting".
As others have stated, the movie is largely a loose adaptation of "Porno", however there are also direct references to the first book: the most obvious probably being a short scene clearly taken from the chapter "Trainspotting at Leith Central Station".
