Answer me some questions about this pile of pish. SPOILERS

What a let-down! Where was the script? Why did the characters keep doing stupid things that didn't make sense? Answer me these questions please:

Why did Renton come back? The script doesn't even try and give him a convincing reason.

Sickboy wants revenge on Renton. SO why did he tell Begbie that Rents was in Amsterdam?

Can you really transfer £100k into your bank account by forging a couple of signatures?

Why didn't the police come round to Begbie's house to look for him?

Why did Veronika tell Spud to write down his stories? When did he actually tell her any?

Are we really supposed to believe that Spud is now a literary giant?

DId Danny Boyle really direct this plodding turgid *beep*

Did Renton and Simon at least make amends by the end of the film? And did it end on a good note for sickboy? Did Spud really save them from Begbie and if so, how? It does sound bad but I gotta know if this crap is true.

It ends on an... okay note for Sick Boy. He's slightly worse off career wise than he was at the start of the film but he and Renton have made amends and are friends again.

Sick Boy saves Renton from Begbie and then Spud saves them both by knocking Begbie out by smashing a toilet over his head just as he is about to shoot them.

He also saves them by helping Veronika swindle the money from them...he took away the opportunity for betrayal.

Love is the law...

reply

Yeah, didn't think of it like that. Makes sense

reply

You seem like an idiot, I'm glad the film doesn't work for people like you.

reply

That's right, I'm an idiot for expecting a film that doesn't insult the audience's intelligence. But you're fine with that I can see.

reply

But you've just asked moronic off the shelf questions that anyone with half a Brain should be able to satisfy themselves, I'm left with no option to conclude you are an idiot.

OK you need to hate this movie, but really you could've put a bit more effort into the reasoning if it was that important to you.

Why did Renton come back? The script doesn't even try and give him a convincing reason.

He went through a mid-life crisis because of his heart attack and also due to the fact that his wife was divorcing him. Plus not going home for twenty years and even skipping your Mother's funeral; the temptation would obviously be there for him to return. Also guilt and to make amends?

Sickboy wants revenge on Renton. SO why did he tell Begbie that Rents was in Amsterdam?

He initially wanted revenge but then the two of them actually started working together and became friends again. Renton was at that point effectively helping Sickboy with his business so why would he just get rid of him right away? I saw it as he was sort of playing both sides though in case Renton betrayed him again and he changed his mind and wanted Begbie to go after him.

Can you really transfer £100k into your bank account by forging a couple of signatures?

I have no idea. Probably.

Why didn't the police come round to Begbie's house to look for him?

They did which was why Begbie kept sneaking in through the back. As was shown the first time he returned home. A good chunk of time passed in the film so they weren't going to stand watch outside his house constantly.

Why did Veronika tell Spud to write down his stories? When did he actually tell her any?

Because she enjoyed hearing them? They are extremely entertaining... hence why everyone likes the books/films. He told her one when they were working on the spa together and presumably others during the long period of time they spent together.

Are we really supposed to believe that Spud is now a literary giant?

Everyone's got a talent, why not? And it's all written like how Spud talks. Just as a majority of the actual books are. And those are pretty popular are they not?

Start of by saying this is the best film I've seen in years, so my answers may be a bit biased but ill answer to the best of my abilities.

1. Renton has been running away from his problems for 20 years since TS1 as he is scared of the repercussions. The near death experience makes him realise that he's not gonna truly be at peace till he faces the consequences of his actions from TS1- hence returning to face the music.

2. Sick boy was never really angry about the money or the betrayal as its mentioned that he wished he'd have pulled the stunt first. He has a chip on his shoulder as his best mate who he shared most his life with disappeared for 20 years and then just makes an unannounced return then proceeds to have conversation like nothing ever happened. He tells begbie a half truth as begbie would have guessed that he was lying. So sick boy was protecting himself first (as hes very selfish person) then his best mate 2nd.

3. Yes, remember veronica also had a lot of access to sick boys stuff as he was a careless coke head.

4. They probably would have but begbie was always on the go as he's a man who's lost his freedom for 20 years and also its not really an important plot point apart from maybe humour.

5. This ones got 2 answers I believe - the first is she enjoyed his stories and wanted others to read them as books can be widespread to the masses. The second is that she wanted gail to see what a good guy spud was and the way he has become isnt a true reflection of the type of person he is.

6. Hes always been tall just a wider variety of camera angles have been used compared to TS1

Read 6 wrong:

*6. He isn't as you can tell when speaking to begbie and his monologues that his grammar is very poor. Although what he is good at is expressing his emotions and conveying humour in everyone of his past situations.

reply

LOL "6. Are we really meant to believe that Spud is suddenly a giant"

I got a completely different impression for point 2.

Sick Boy was using Renton to build his sauna then planning on ruining him. He didn't want to give Renton up to Begbie until he had his sauna but was planning on doing it after.

reply

100% agree. I thought it was poor

reply

Renton went back because his marriage was over and he was going to lose his job, you dos xxxx

Why did Renton come back? The script doesn't even try and give him a convincing reason.

His life in Amsterdam was falling apart and he was feeling nostalgic for the 'good old days'.

Sickboy wants revenge on Renton. SO why did he tell Begbie that Rents was in Amsterdam?

Because he wants Begbie to get to Renton at a time of his own choosing, after he's drawn him back in as a friend, as he clearly states in the film.

Can you really transfer £100k into your bank account by forging a couple of signatures?

Yes, as long as they look authentic.

Why didn't the police come round to Begbie's house to look for him?

They did. This is touched on briefly in the film.

Why did Veronika tell Spud to write down his stories? When did he actually tell her any?

She liked his stories and felt sorry for him, so was trying to give him a sense of self-worth.

Are we really supposed to believe that Spud is now a literary giant?

Given the look on the literary agent's face at the end, I think not.
