Glamorises Herrings ?
Do the Transpotting movies glamorise herring ?
shareDidn't see any fish in the film at all, never mind herrings.
Thought the film was OK, but not worth the hype
Assuming you are talking about heroin, well the original was part of a 90s narrative that perhaps unwittingly did so. But how, ifyou read the book, it is hard to fathom.
The biggest glamorisers of heroin in the 1990s were, and I declare this as a heroin addict for 25 years were, in my view - Pulp Fiction, and Janes Addiction. As I said, that's just my opinion. I was already on it when Pulp Fiction came out, but remember being absolutely mesmerised by the scene wherein Travolta's character scores in a delightfully smooth transaction (reality - buying bags in *beep* stairwells in even *beep* flat complexes from dealers who may well have extracted the bags of gear from their arses, or even classier still, on a number of occasions, puked them up for our pleasure), with a choice of the most delightful range of globally selected quality heroin which just about stopped short of gicing the year of the poppy vintage (reality - any old *beep* smuggled in from Afghanistan and then danced upon 1,000 times, cut with dog worming pills if we were lucky), bangs up with a personalised, suave looking works (reality - bland looking mass produced stuff from the exchange, in my case probably works used 10-12 times due to sheer laziness about going to the exchange), oh and of course hits a vein instantly (reality - he didn't find himself sitting on the bathroom floor 45 minutes after starting, surrounded by little lakes of blood, close to tears and almost reduced to prayer, about to start on the feet and legs).
Then we see him behind the wheel, all *beep* up for sure, but content and still suave and smooth (reality - the car probably wouldn't have started, but if it did and if I hadn't immediately driven straight into a wall or ditch, imagine a very different scene, in which neither smoothness nor suaveness prevailed, but rather I would have been puttering along cautiously, goofing all over the shop or better still one determined eye just about open, fumbling defeatedly for smokes and totally paranoid about getting pulled over. No cool soundtrack playing either).
So yeah - just a tad glamorised. Course there was all that fiasco with Uma Thurton, but that didn't count because she never had a habit. Besides - by then, the damage was done, yeah??
