Will there be a 3rd?

I was VERY suprised that no one got killed off in T2, so do you think there could be a T3? If so, what should it be about?

reply

If there is a 3rd film I think it's likely to be a prequel, based on Irvine Welsh's book 'Skagboys' which follows the group as youths and the build up to their addiction to heroin

reply

I really thought Begbie would off someone. Don't think a third movie is necessary but then again neither was the second.

reply

the fact that none of the main characters gets killed means they have an eye on a third movie

reply

I would have thought no chance of a third one. I enjoyed the movie, but it felt like it pretty much told it's story now.

reply

Very unlikely IMO, as porno was the last Irvine Welsh book featuring all of the characters from the story arc. There is a later novel called 'The Blade Artist' where Begbie has moved to Florida to become an artist, but I'd be surprised if that got an adaptation of its own.

reply

Danny, Irvine and Bobby have already talked about "T3" from "The Blade Artist" novel.

Love is the law...

reply

How will they do that after the altered ending from the book to T2? Will he escape again?

reply

If I'm not mistaken, The Blade Artist is set about 10 years after Porno (which was partly the basis for T2), during which time he has been back to jail, where he found an outlet in art, then released after a few years, married and moved to the US to escape his past.

reply

Scheduled for release in spring 2038, T3 will be about how Renton has fallen and he can't get up, and gets re-addicted to heroin from the painkillers prescribed to him from the resulting back surgery.

reply

I do not believe Irvine Welsh would in any way sanction a 3rd. And nor should he. T2 worked. T3 would be a joke

reply

I'll happily accept a T3, in 2036.... but not in the next 10 years...

T3, would be a fitting end to the series in 20 years.
