SINISTER PART 2 had the potential to be a great psychological thriller. Sure, there are plenty of movies about a mother trying to take her sons away from her abusive husband, but this is the 1st one I've seen where one of the sons has inherited his father's attitude. Unfortunately, script writers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill use this idea to make a sequel to their supernatural horror movie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJZ6tQ7kqvM). Both sub-genres can blend well depending on the execution, but they don't here. Now, who was the genious who thought it would be a good idea to show the ghosts from the start? That and the over-reliance on jump scares are the reasons why the movie isn't scary at all. The performances aren't bad, but I didn't buy the romance between the 2 protagonists. If you want to make a horror movie and you want the last shot to be a final jump scare, you must have a reason. It's not an obligation for horror movies to end that way. Also, don't focus on setting that up more than focusing on how to properly end the movie. It can be ambiguous, but it shouldn't feel like you have no idea what to do. The makers of this movie might as well had appeared on screen and waved a white flag.

SINIESTRO PARTE 2 tenía el potencial de ser un gran thriller psicológico. Cierto que hay muchas películas que se tratan de una madre tratando de alejar a sus hijos de su esposo abusivo, pero esta es la 1ra que he visto donde uno de los hijos ha heredado la actitud de su padre. Desafortunadamente, los guionistas Scott Derrickson y C. Robert Cargill usaron esta idea para hacer una secuela de su película de terror sobrenatural (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJZ6tQ7kqvM). Ambos sub-géneros pueden mezclarse bien dependiendo de la ejecución, pero no lo hacen aquí. Ahora, ¿quién fue el genio que pensó que sería una buena idea mostrar a los fantasmas desde el principio? Eso y la sobre-dependencia de saltos repentinos son las razones por las que la película no asusta para nada. Las actuaciones no son malas, pero no creí la relación entre los 2 protagonistas. Si quieren hacer una película de terror y quieren que la última toma sea un susto repentino final, deben tener una razón. No es una obligación que las películas de terror terminen así. Además, no se enfoquen en preparar eso más que enfocarse en cómo terminar apropiadamente la película. Puede ser ambiguo, pero no debería sentirse como si no tenían idea de qué hacer. Hubiera sido igual si los realizadores de esta película hubieran aparecido en pantalla y alzado una bandera blanca.
