Matt?
When Matt and Emily fall down to the cave, and he tries to save her but fails. Matt jumps to safety and someone grabs and drags him and finally impales him onto hook. Who was it? The stranger? Why did he kill Matt? Wendigo? Are they that "smart"? Someone else...?
It was a windigo that killed Matt in that seen. I would also assume that it was the Hannah windigo that killed him, as it is kinda hinted at the Hannah is alsways the windigo that killed them.

I thought he was a bit wishy-washy and I don't know why he'd put up with such an obnoxious girlfriend, the way she spoke to him through most of the game was completely uncalled for - I was rooting for her death, even when she survived, lol.

My husband killed Matt that way in his first playthrough. Wendigo Hannah kills Matt. There is much debate over how aware the wendigos are, but I think Hannah did remember Mike. She had many opportunities to hunt and kill Mike, but she backed off or just stalked him every time. She also killed Jess via ripping her jaw off, and I always thought it was in response to her mouthing off at the cabin.
My Matt survived because I didn't give a darn about Emily at that point in time. lol. Emily did grow on me by the end of the game.
Yeah. I think Hannah was the Wendigo that was mainly trying to/actually killing everyone til just before the end. But it seemed pretty clear that she had some recollection of them all.
As for Matt, he was a pushover, but overall a good guy. The ONLY reason Emily survived for me was jus to get the everyone lives achievement. I will always kill her off pretty much any other time I play. Total B!+c#....I like Jess WAY more than her.
I just succeeded in saving everyone and Emily cared for Matt.
You have to agree with Emily at all times in the early chapters. Stand up for her.
You only have to disagree about going to the radio tower or something after you've looked at the end. (This determines whether you keep the flare gun or waste the shot.)
Have Emily give Flare gun to Matt at the Radio Tower. Depending on that choice at the cable cart station he'll either shoot or keep the flare. You want him to KEEP the shot.
Argue with Emily while she shouts out at you to save her and have her reveal that she slept with Mike (If you saw them together) or have her apologise to you and treat you like a human being.
Save Emily or try to both times.
In cave you'll have a the Flare Gun to defend yourself with against Hannah. (Its Hannah since if any of the characters die you find their corpses later on in her lair with their severed heads.)
Later on Hide in the cave and save jessica if she survived. Done.
I hate Emily. I'm gonna enjoy getting that trophy where Mike shoots her in the head. That'll be fun.
I hate the save system in this game. Because of shooting the Squirrel at the beginning Sam gets caught either way by the Psycho and I can't get the remaining Mystery Man Collectables in Chapter 7. I'll have to play the bloody game for like four hours straight. So long.
