I think all the girls look like they are crying.

Sam didn't appear to be crying in her pause screen, she appears to be smiling. But I think the longer the game goes on, the more different the characters maybe look in their pause screens? (Theory).

You're definitely right. The pause screens update what's happened to the characters in game, like Ashley's black eye for example.
shareI hadn't paid that much close attention but I'm glad it seems like I was on the right track lol. Some of the characters seemed more smug in the face but then they hadn't been chased yet.
The pause screens reminded me so much of Heavy Rain
