There is one part that I do not understand about this game

There is one thing about this game that I don't understand. The first time you play as Jessica she says new people time to meet and greet. The first time I played this game I thought that Jessica didn't know anyone yet. Now that I've played the game a couple of times I know that Jessica knew these people from last year. Why did she say they was new people?

She just meant that 'new' people had arrived, as in people that weren't there before. She wasn't referring to not knowing them until now. I see where you're coming from, though.
