Absolutely great - and underrated here

This was really much better than average British comedy, and not only British.
Combining depth with humor is always best thing in movies. Most of actors did great performance, especially 3 kids. I was not impressed with first listed actor - Rosamund Pike-s performance, just to note, considering that she is Oscar nominee currently (with minimal chances, I guess). But fact that she accepted role in this movie after many Hollywood films is nice.
Low rating here is not surprise. But I'm sure, that this little gem will make some people, families to think about their life(style) and going in right direction - true value :-)

Exactlty. This was a good film, not 6.8 more like 7.8 - 8.2. great child acting. Sad and funny. And not american.

reply

Agreed. I didn't want it to end and I'm really surprised about the low ratings. I guess it was boring for those people, who expected a full-blown Ben Stiller-esque comedy but I absolutely loved this. Rosamund Pike's role wasn't very demanding but I think she did well with what she's given. All the other actors, including kids, did great, the views and the cinematography were mesmerizing, the music gorgeous and the problems very real, even if hyperbolized. What's not to like?

reply

It has David Tennant. Sold. Looks really funny especially the parts about Jesus. That was hilarious.

Don't make seizure jokes. You have no idea who you're hurting.

reply

Very underrated, I laughed a lot of the way through.

I'm also surprised about the low ratings. I thought the film was absolutely fantastic; the acting was incredible, including those amazing kids so different from the brats we usually see on the screen, and the story was both hilarious and heartbreaking.

I love finding a gem like this. Didn't really know anything about it. Watched it because of Billy Connolly. Me and the family all laughed. It did slow down in the second half but still a cracking little film.

reply

Exactly. It was almost the perfect, heartwarming comedy film.

Didn't see the beginning, but got hooked surfing around the channels. I've never been a fan of Billy Connolly but I really enjoyed his part in this.

Great little film...I gave it a 9.
