Dripping Turpentine = Lit Cigar = 'Wipe That Smile Off!'

When the turpentine dripped down on that smirking, smoking dude and it ignited right off of his cigar (after he was sufficiently soaked) was a cool touch! That is, just after he had shot holes in the ceiling to kill the kid and was still smirking about it. We get the double satisfaction of a kind of new trick (I haven't seen it done like that before) and watching something truly Effective 'wipe that smirk off of your face!'

It's not often we see a unique, if minor, Manner of Death.

Sure, it could have been better done - but professional actors are notoriously 'Conservative' when it comes to dealing with fire. Esp. because fire wasn't always treated with respect or even common sense on-set and there were many accidents and nasty burns associated with extremely cheap and 'willing to do anything' stunt-doubles of the early days...

When the bad guy come on scene with a lit cigar I thought "how stupid is that". Last thing you need in a gunfight is cigar smoke in your eyes! When he literally "lit up" I saw why script writer needed actor to do such a stupid thing.
