Did anyone catch the location of the pub that they went to for their dinner? It was mentioned at least once, but I didn't recognise the place. The landlord was obviously Scottish, but the others didn't sound very Scottish.
I was wondering how Lauren managed to get there so quickly. If it was in Scotland, it would've taken most of a day to drive up from Oxford.
No surprise the landlord was a Scot ; there are about 700k of us in England alone and a few more in Wales and N. Ireland.
The pub was the Jamaica Wine House off Cornhill in the City of London. Some pubs in Oxfordshire were considered but obviously the afore-mentioned met the needs of the film company. A lot of filming done at Pinewood and of course in and around the city of Winchester, Hampshire.
Thanks for the info. I'm sure that is the pub that was used in the film. However, I think that, within the context of the film, they were supposed to be somewhere isolated. From some of the images that I've found on google, it looks as if the pubs says on it "Kidsbury, Oxfordshire". There is no place in Oxfordshire called "Kidsbury", so they might've made up a place for the film.
This would then explain how Lauren managed to get there quickly. She could've got a taxi from Oxford to some village in the surrounding countryside within an hour.
Yes, the name was made up. Sites in Oxfordshire were checked and considered for use in the pub scenes but not found suitable for various reasons. Obviously the fictional location had to be within easy driving distance of the uni.,you are right.
