Sam - Most pointless character and worst actor ever?

Seriously, her first scene, she just casually presents herself as if everything were fine and dandy. Ugh, hello? People dying all around you? The earthquake? You're supposed to be scared? No, Sam's ok, nothings out of the usual

Not only that, but that actress can not act at all. She keeps the same face throughout the entire movie, as if she were unaware of what was going on. And when Skylar dies, her expression remains the same neutral expression she has the entire movie! When she tries to finally cry, it's so fake and forced, it's pathetic.

What was the point of this character? She thinks this group of friends needs her sorry ass?

Her character was needed to preach even more christian crap towards the end of the movie.

Funny thing is, if u replace all the religious propaganda with anything, it makes for a decent horro movie.

I kept thinking that she must be related to somebody funding or making the movie.

I honestly found nothing to hate in this actress's performance.

For starters, her character did have an arc, and I thought she did okay within the boundaries of it. She starts off disaffected and finishes with her "revelation." I think the inelegant way in which it is presented at the end makes it appear sudden and heavy-handed, but I would like to believe (but obviously do not know) that editing may have removed some of the beats or scenes that would have smoothed her character's arc.

Nevertheless, I thought it was a competent performance by a young actress. Besides, how can one hate on someone who looks a lot like a leaner version of a young Michelle Williams? It's not like she delivered her lines and then reached through the screen and punched you in the face.

If you want to see some wooden and forced acting (particularly in this genre), try that new Left Behind movie. I was very disappointed that it was not "so bad it's good" and was just simply not good. It wasn't even "mildly amusing because it's so bad."

i just finished watching the movie (i liked it!) but i definitely thought the same thing about the actress playing Sam. she's very cute/pretty but she can not act at all. the fact she had the same non-expression/serious face on throughout the movie had me convinced she was evil or something but that wasn't the case. she's not a good actress. oh and to make matters worse she mumbles most of her lines. i honestly had to rewind so many of her scenes because she doesn't enunciate at all.

Yeah, Sam was poorly written and poorly acted. I was waiting for her to have some big reveal or something, but it went nowhere. Super lame. Why would these other characters want to have a rando tag along chick when they have their own issues to deal with?!

And the plot didn't need her for the Christian viewpoint either. Alison, Skylar, and the preacher all had a handle on that aspect with more of an organic fit than weirdo Sam.
