Loved the computer lab scenes!

Reminded me so much of our computer lab...but apparently we didn't have the latest computers cause ours wasn't in color! But I do remember the huge floppy disks and loved Oregon Trail! I watched it with my kids and they couldn't believe how the printers were! Thats why I love this show because I was a child of the eighties and can remember everything they talk about!

Don't bother sweating over your bills, in the end we all wind up in the hole!

I grew up in the '80s and we had a computer lab like that with Apple IIe instead of Apple IIplus I think they had on the show. Just like the show, geek guys would play games at lunchtime, but there was also one girl in that group. A popular game I think was "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", all text-based. And people would show off their simple Basic programs.

That was a great show.

Oregon Trail was the best! I hated typing class with Mavis Beacon in computer lab but I enjoyed the games we got to play during free time. Have you seen this mock trailer for Oregon Trail? It is great and very funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHps2SecuDk

"You have died of dysentery.", LMAO!

Our school didn't have Apple computers, but rather IBM PCs. They all had applications loaded on them.

I vaguely remember them having a blue screen when it loaded up, but they were a blast. I always looked forward to it, from elementary all the way up to high school.

I guess our public education system at the time couldn't afford upgrades if it stood the same for all of those years.

I'm not sure what my school had because for some reason, you were required to pass subjects like advanced geometry and advanced algebra before you were allowed to sign up for any computer classes. I ended up dropping out and getting my equivalency diploma instead. I had a Commodore 64 at home and I used to write little animated adult cartoons for my friends who were still in school, to type into the Vic-20 in the library.

Nothing fancy, just printing the characters to the screen, then reprinting it so it seemed like it was moving. There was no drive on the one at school, so I would have to print out the listing and they would have to type it in. Eventually they removed the computer. I hope it didn't have anything to do with the cartoon I made involving a horse...

Not that anyone ever used it anyway since there was no software.
