Celestine heard cries from nearby in the forest one night...was it the little girl Clair that was murdered...and maybe Joesph was the killer??

You have a point, and they never really addressed who the killer was after she was suspicious of Joseph. She was great in this movie, but fabulous in Blue is the Warmest Color.
