Just heard this: Torrance Coombs is going to leave REIGN to star in ABC show Star Crossed, but he says Bash could return. I'm very sad. I don't have any clue as to how Season 3 will wrap up, but by Season 4, they will go on without Bash. Sadness all over.

Emily, how unkind of you to say Bash is useless. It's hardly his fault that the writers didn't know cleverly ways they could have written stories for him. As one of the main characters, and a brother to the kings, he should've been assigned to guard Mary and the others. It was a mistake to break up Kenna and his marriage...that could have worked out differently. There were all kinds of ways to use Bash. He could very well go on to Scotland with Mary. He could very well go to England to rescue Lola...I am upset because they've been so unfair to Bash. I do hope his new show goes very well for him and he returns for guest appearances.

I kinda had a feeling it was the end of the road for Bash - his storyline has been lacking this season and if Mary is leaving for Scotland at the (near?) end of S3, then yeah - I kinda expected it. Sad they couldn't give him a great storyline to send him off though.
All that being said though....I'm kinda interested in Star Crossed based on what little info there is - could be cool.

Those who were routing while Francis was still alive to kill him quick and move Mary to Scotland, I figured a consequence of that would be losing Bash. Since in Scotland Mary moves on to her other marriages it would have been difficult to find a place for him in her life over there.

Reunite him with his wife and child (I still hold out hope that Kenna had Bash's baby in her before sleeping around). Let him and Kenna still be part of the service to Queen Mary. There are all kinds of ways to incorporate him but alas, I think he himself felt crowded out by the English court men, others coming in...etc. Conde sucked up a lot of his time in Season 2! I just know I will miss Bash and hope his new show will be wonderful and that he revisits Reign as much as he can.
shareI came across an interesting fan theory a few weeks ago in which Mary grants Bash the title of Lord Darnley (historically, Mary Stuart's second husband) and returns to Scotland with him...kind of out there but it caught my attention right away. This would allow Mary and Bash to have their time together and it would give Bash more of a main storyline.
Given the nature of the show and the liberties it already takes with history, I don't think this idea is too far-fetched. It would certainly put an unexpected twist on things. What do you guys think? Too out there? I guess it's moot now since Torrence is leaving :(
Damn, it won't be the same without Bash. But I've never been one to abandon a show because a favourite actor has left, and I'm not going to start now. I'm not going to stop watching.
But I do have a sad!! :(
His new show sounds really interesting so I'll probably watch it. It's a Shonda Rhimes program and don't her shows usually becomes hits. I don't blame him for leaving.

I hardly think Bash will magically turn into Lord Darnley...that is too way out there. Besides, he will be filming in Spain and not Toronto or Ireland for the new show. I just wish he could juggle both. I know that's impossible, but Bash is such an honorary character with true morals. He is great. I will miss Bash enormously. I do hope his new gig is a wonderful success. He deserves better than what he got as Bash.

Can we stick to the subject, please??? I was talking about Bash not some other guy on some other show. Sorry but I feel like this is what happened to Torrance with REIGN...he became a casualty because so many other characters were brought in!!! He deserved more and I feel angry that the writers were not clever enough to build a strong story for him to stay on for season 4. He got kicked to the curb and was indeed treated like the step child he was. I am terribly sad about Bash being written out and I can only hope he does return visits as his Twitter indicated. Long live Baron Sebastian de Portiers!!!!

In terms of Reign, they made Bash chase ghosts and have an incestuous relationship. Not sure why they replaced him with Conde in season 2. He was basically Bash 2.0 and it made me sad. Torrance is a great actor who deserves better material
