Leith & Claude

I'm so glad they were finally back this week! They feel like a breath of fresh air in comparison to the rest of the plots. I don't mind the more serious stuff, but I do miss the days were we did get to see some more lighthearted romance on a regular basis. I'm trying to not get too attached since every cute and happy couple gets destroyed on this blasted show, but I'm certainly enjoying it while it lasts. They made such a mess of Greer and Leith that it's really nice to see him happy with someone else :)

I also loved the fact that the writers did go the obvious (and overdone) route of making the storyline all about Claude getting jealous over Leith's friendship with Greer. It was much more entertaining to see her chastise him for excluding her and then jump in on the whole blackmailing thing.

Claude irritated me until it became clear that her and Leith were going to be a couple, now I really enjoy her and the scenes with Leith, it's like they're both truly happy for once. I also loved how it didn't even occur to her to be jealous, instead she jumped at the chance to spend time with Leith and help Greer at the same time. They make a good team!

Claude was definitely annoying when she was first introduced. Doesn't help that her main storyline tied in with Catherine's wacky ghost visions, which got dragged on for too long in my opinion. But they've won me over with everything that's happened between Claude and Leith. It's nice to see him with someone who is willing to try to make it work despite the obstacles of their social classes.

I didn't pay much attention to Claude in the beginning: annoying, bratty, self-serving - she just wasn't a very nice or sympathetic character. And I'm not a huge fan of Leith either. I started to really like Claude after she kicked her husband's <beep>.  I don't ship Claude & Leith, but they don't annoy me either.
