I couldn't watch the scene where the guy gets strangled but was that "the Lion" and why did he get killed? I thought that the Lion went over to work for the Cali cartel and then they killed him.

Lion made a big mistake introducing the Cali guys to his bankers and connections in Miami.

Cali didnt need him anymore after that and didnt want to share the money with him.

Basically they could not trust him because he abandoned his previous owners so easy

He should have gathered his milllions and fleed to Montana or Wyoming for several years
