Why would you assume he's a direct descendant of Europeans? Plenty of Hispanics look white. And, for the record, the actor who played the character in question (as another poster just pointed out) is Juan Sebastián Calero whose parents were both born in Colombia. share

If they 'look white', it's probably because they're of European descent! Somehow you're under the American impression that being Hispanic and 'White' are mutually exclusive. If a German or British couple emigrated to Colombia and had a child, that child is still 'white'.

Hispanic is not a race. Hispanics are white (European), black (African), Native American or any mix thereof (Mestizos). A person can be born in Colombia or Argentina or Uruguay,etc. to families that have been in the New World for centuries and still be of 100% European descent, just like whites from the U.S. or Canada. For instance Alexa Bledel is Hispanic because she comes from Argenitna but racially she's white. Celia Cruz was Hispanic because she was from Cuba but racially she was black. George Lopez is Hispanic because his family is from Mexico but racially he is Mestizo (Native/White mix). So white Hispanics don't "look" white, they are white.

Because the native inhabitants of the Americas are very dark compared to Europeans. Therefore, any person in Latin America who has fair skin, red hair, and light eyes is obviously almost entirely if not entirely of European descent. This isn't complicated. share

This whole "Hispanic" doesn't really matter in Europe for example, we don't label people based on that but as people. America sure did a number on folks over there to make pretty much all that "Hispanic" and "Latino" is a race of its own. share

Actually 'Hispanic' is a linguistic group. Many Hispanics are not of Spanish descent, such as Cuban salsa legend Celia Cruz, former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori or Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim. share
