Narcos never explore the consequences of drugs

Don't get me wrong I like this series but I find it weird that they never show why its illegal to sell drugs. They never show anyone addicted or a family broken because of drugs or anything like that.

They focus on the side effects of the war against narcos and how they affect the people that aren't involved but, from the series point of view, it would be easier to just legalize drugs than to keep fighting the narcos (from the series POV, I'm now saying that's a good idea in real life).

Not saying that this is a fatal flaw or anything just that I find it weird that they never take the time to show that side of the problem.

I think it is because they know that the general population already knows the side effects of drugs such as conic and crack, spoiler alert, it is bad.

If they showed how bad was for someone to use blow or any other type of illegal drug, it would be like a studio showing a super hero origin story everytime a new movie comes out (everyone is tired of seeing Batman's parents get killed over and over), and this is just one analogy I could think of right now.

They didn't show that side of the problem because it's not relevant.

Exactly. We don't need to see money being printed to enjoy a heist movie, parents doing hanky-panka to enjoy a kids movie, or dinosaurs die and turn into oil to enjoy Deepwater Horizon.

The focus of this series was exclusively on Escobar for better or worse. You can't dismiss of course, the massive carnage that was created as result of the drug wars. The consequence of taking drugs is another story and although a horrific one it is still a matter of personal choice. One can argue that Escobar is not the problem, it is the issue of legality. After all, if drugs were legalized the profit motive would be eliminated for Escobar.

It's obvious why drugs are illegal. The pharmaceutical industry doesn't like the competition. Anybody that thinks drugs are illegal for "moral" reasons are highly delusional.

There is no need to show what "illegal" drugs do to society. This was a show about the rise of Pablo Escobar, the Medellin Cartel and the efforts of the DEA to shut them down.
What I find interesting is how they make cocaine. Sulfuric acid, kerosene and gasoline. What you don't know can hurt you.
