Anyone else hold a complete lack of sympathy for Pablo's family?

They're denied entry into Germany and forced to go back to Colombia all while the mother and wife whine and cry about the injustice. These two women turn a blind eye in most instances, and in Tata's case, enable Pablo to commit atrocities whereby countless numbers of innocent families are murdered and children left parent-less or dead, but these women act like they're innocent bystanders and don't deserve all of the violence that's finally landing at their doorstep. I can't stomach it. They deserve every bit of pain that comes their way.

I agree... it's pretty galling that they seem to lack any ability to reflect/understand their own actions. But I think that that is likely the point that the filmmakers are making, the utterly blind self interest and entitlement of the Escobars is astonishing. Even right at the end as the authorities are closing in on Pablo, he is shown raging about the infringement of his families human rights and how murderers have been put in charge of the Columbian justice system, seemingly without any irony or consciousness as to how his own actions contributed to the state of affairs.

I thought it was a really good aspect of their characters and well depicted onscreen... but as you say, it's hard to stomach.

I don't know how true the second season stayed to real events, but if Pablo's father was an accurate depiction of his real-life father, I respect him for standing up to his son and not cowering to fear or letting the money/fame influence him. He stood up to Pablo and said that he's ashamed of his son for the things he's done. When Pablo's mother and wife cater to Pablo's ever whim and desire, it was nice to finally see someone in his life stand up to him and bring him back to reality. Pablo Escobar is a murderer, a terrorist, and a horrible man.

From what I can tell about Pablo's mother based on a short interview I once saw and the clip in the show her character was probably quite realistic... I agree she and the wife remained completely ignorant and selfish until the end, can't feel any sympathy either for such self-interested people.

They dont deserve sympathy not only because theyre scum but also because they certainly have a nest egg bigger than what youll make in your entir lifetime.

His mother and wife were both pathethic figures as portrayed into the show.

There weren't many characters to feel sympathetic for, in this series. I felt bad for the kids; obviously Pablo's, but also Maritza's daughter and the kids who witnessed their friend get executed..., but as far as adults were concerned, pretty much everyone was a bad guy to some extent, except maybe the narrator's wife...
