Can this show survive for seasons three and four? Spoilers

So with the death of Escobar do you see this show continuing to be succesful after the conclusion of season two? To me Escobar is like a narrative lynch pin and I just don't think following the efforts of drug enforcement in Columbia will be a very big draw. He was one of those larger than life characters and it felt a lot like Narcos was the story of Escobar and how he was brought down. I don't get why they are continuing (well, I get it... succesful show must continue $$$). It seemed like a perfectly wrapped up story.

For some history buffs it might be interesting to see how Coloumbia evolved after Escobar died and how the drug trade was affected and so on. But I think it will then just become another drug traffickers vs drug enforcements officers story.

Not saying that will necessarily be bad and I'm not trying to bring the show down. Just genuinly curious.

I tend to agree, but I'm excited to see where the story goes from here...I like the way they ended it, showing Pena getting another chance and the rich Cali guys celebrating. Seems there's another story to tell, but question is - will it based on another book like the first two seasons of Narcos were? "Killing Pablo" -if anyone knows, I'd love to read it.

It can easily continue.

But you CANNOT base the continuance of the show on the Cali cartel, because it simply does not have that much weight.

If I was the show runners I would use the decay and eventual collapse of the Cali cartel (and Colombian drug trade in general) to transition into Mexico and the eventual rise of "El Chapo" Guzman.

This show MUST have a King in play.

Only Octavian can fill the vacuum left by Julius Caesar.

No, you don't get it. The showrunners said from the start that after Escobar, the series would move on to the Cali cartel and then from there move to the Mexican cartels. This was always the plan for the show. That's why it's called Narcos, not Escobar.

I'm not gonna watch season 3 of the show. You cannot build a whole show around one character, remove the character, and then expect it to continue/be as interesting as before. Whether you like him or not, Pablo Escobar is a symbol. A man who came from nothing, who became a symbol of both evil, tyranny etc., but still a loving family man and a very smart man, who stopped at nothing to achieve/get what he wanted.

This is why you're able to build a story around this guy, because he's interesting. Everyone who knows just a little bit about the former cocaine trade in the world, knows about Pablo Escobar. But, they only know what he is/was, which is why they were able to make a whole show build around his character. So (at least in my opinion) Pablo gone = no show.
I mean, who's ever heard about any of the other drug dealers/narcos on the show? Me? - no one. So I actually don't care about them.

This show isn't about the drug cartels in Colombia/Mexico (even though it's called 'Narcos'). It's about Pablo Escobar, and the influence he had on it. You might as well call the show "Pablo Escobar".

All these voices in my head, and not a single one I understand.

Of course it can, and it will be very interesting to see where they go with it, but for me Wagner Moura was the heart and soul, he was the thing that held it all up, and it will be tough to go on without/replace him.
