Skip the dull Cali Cartel (and about 15 years) and move the action to Mexico.

They have a lot more colourful characters like El Chapo and Tony Tormenta.

Or they could go back to 1980s Miami and do a series on the Cocaine Cowboys.

Your wisdom on what is good and bad is above all of us?
The Cali Cartel were ruthless and killers just as well. I am not saying a Mexican cartel story won't be interesting. But don't dismiss the Cali Cartel as "dull."
