Continuity Snarl

Okay I love this show, but in light of the most recent episode something bugs me. In the first episode Jason was in the quest after his father with the implication he had known him at one point then he was vanished, later in the same episode it was stated he was taken to the other world when he was an infant.

As such it followed with the idea he had never truely met his father, which explains why he couldn't recognise Aeson (by voice if not apperance) when he met him. But according to this episode he actually grew up with his father, or at least was old enough before he left to ask him about his mother, so which is it? And if its this one, then how come he couldn't recognise his father when he met him?

Along with a lot of other viewers, I've been wondering about this since they met in Season One. Basically I'm coming down on the side of, "A wizard did it," until/unless we find out more.

"Breadsticks. For the mouth part of your face."

It was his father who took him to the other world. To get away from his mother.
He then left to go back to Atlantis when Jason was still a child.

reply

Then how come he didn't recognise Aeson when they met? Sure he probably changed over the years, but shouldn't he recognise his voice?

It sounds good in theory, though not really in practise. My cousins lost their father when they were 4 & 6 years old, and remember nothing at all. I was nine and only have vague memories. I have no doubt I would NOT recognise his voice now.

Really? I always figured you would remember the voice of the person who raised you. Well maybe your right, but still.

reply

If he was left with someone, he'd bond to his caretaker, NOT his biological parent. The biological parent becomes worthless and the memory space is delegated elsewhere.

His father was the one who took him to the other world to escape his mother.
He then returned to Atlantis when Jason was still a child.
