Ariadne

This show could have been quite an entertaining Saturady evening show, but my good God that Ariande character does not suit that actress at all and the way she acted it really ruined the show for me. Last weeks episode was really painful to watch.
Yes the actress is good looking, and I'm sure she is a really nice person in real life, but this show does not suit her style of acting at all!
Having said that, it is a bit of a shame that it was actually cancelled though.

mate you are on your own on that one...she makes the show.

I agree with NickanthonyPT. In fact, Ariadne, and the actress who plays her, is why I am still watching the show.

reply

Agreed. She's beautiful, but not in an unrealistically Hollywood-polished way, and has a commanding presence, yet still with a little youthful uncertainty, as one might expect in someone new to her position. The actress handles all of this wonderfully. She's convincing in her more bad-ass scenes, too.

I think they got exactly the right person for the part, there.

"You gotta hand it to pervs, man. They don't accept mediocrity."

Maybe she'll cross over to Game of Thrones now that she's free (she would have made a great Arianne Martell if they hadn't dropped that character).

Well, for the record, you are not the only one, like another poster stated.

I found her role to be the worst of them all and this was a show that had some poor acting in it's time. It had some good as well but her role never seemed to elevate beyond being poor. I don't know the actress (aside from this) so I can't really say whether it's her fault or the writing. She was rarely given much to play with, so it could be the writing, but on those times when she was given something it always fell flat IMO.
Then again Jason wasn't much better, but then he was a real cliche of an 'always do the right thing' hero, with almost no faults. That makes those types of characters very bland. Again this is down to the writing more than the performance.

But I do have to laugh at the other posters using Ariadne's looks to 'defend' her (I use that word loosely). Her looks have nothing to do with any acting ability, which is the point you were getting at.

It might be sitting on the fence - or maybe switching from one side to the other - but she definitely has off days. When she pulls it out of the bag she's great, but sometimes I feel like it's Acting 101. Perhaps the character isn't too far from her own personality - a strong, stoic, sweet girl - and that's why it feels like she's not acting at all.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

It is easy to criticize but another thing entirely to actually do something like try acting. Acting out scenes is not easy and it is hard work to capture what somebody wants to put on film. To be a new actress, I think Ms Hart does a really good job with her protrayal of the princess of atlantis. This show is far better than reality television and I have quit watching television as a result of reality shows, cop and csi shows that talk about some pretty gross stuff instead of fun stuff like Atlantis that you dont have to take so seriously. Try using a little bit of imagination and you might change your mind. Bravo to the cast of atlantis and keep it coming.

Totally agree the actress sucks big time! Jason and Medea have way better chemistry!
