Between season 1 and 2

I know the series has been cancelled and all, but I had to write something somewhere about this. What the hell happened between season 1 and 2? I can take a guess at much of it I guess, but still. Jason saved Ariadne at the end there and Pasiphae finally ran into some trouble for being a conniving bitch. Fast forward to the second season and all of a sudden the king is dead, of what we don't know at least not in the series, maybe it's explained somewhere in a book about Greek mythology, and now Atlantis is at war. Again, I know the series was cancelled and seasons two is long over (just started the first episode), but still, what the hell?
