new Ghost Face theory: Angelina

Thought of this as I watch 3 tonight for its 25th anniversary.

I was pondering the casting in 7, in particular Stu and Roman. There have been theories that we might get a flashback to Maureen's murder. While this would theoretically be awesome, I also fear it wouldn't work. Mainly because they would need to use digital de-aging, which is shaky at best even when done by a powerhouse like Disney, which can afford a lot more than Scream 7 can. In terms both fiscal and timing. Sure, they could mostly have their masks on, but even a little would still be distracting. It worked for Billy in 5 and 6, being a hallucination with sort of a frosty filmy filter, but that wouldn't work as well for a flashback scene. There's also rumors Emma Roberts is in talks to return. Which lends credence to theories that 7 will involve another voice changer like in 3 that collects the voices of characters we know, but instead of new characters, it'd be the voices of the previous GFs. But that could also be a red herring to make us think Stu is dead when he's really alive?

But, if they did do that, I read another theory that the flashback could be presented as being from a surprise 4th killer's POV, and that could be Angelina.

Which makes me wonder why we've had focus on Roman. Because it sounds like it's going to be a back-to-the-roots kind of tone/motive. And if this is being set up as a finale, it'd make sense to look at 3. That can be considered "roots" at this point. Because I feel like we've learned more than was ever really originally intended to be known about Billy. And we've not heard a peep about Mickey or Mrs. Loomis returning. And the killers in 5 and 6 would make less sense here. I'm sure they'd be glad to kill Sidney, but they were less about her.

Which brings me to Angelina. She's really a perfect candidate. I've long been of the belief she's dead. So I'm not necessarily saying I believe my own theory so much as I think it *could* work. They've had characters surprise survive before, such as Kirby, who, Craven stated in interviews that he thought of her as still alive. So there's precedent. And it's worth noting that in the booklet that came with the original trilogy dvd box set, Angelina is absent among the list of victims. Also going back to Craven, I think many of us know that the original plan was to have Angelina be Roman's girlfriend and accomplice, but that's not how it came to pass. But it still could, which would provide a full-circle scenario. When Sidney catches her in costume in the bathroom, that was supposed to be Angelina getting dressed as GF. When Angelina and Tyson are exploring, he says he's scared John Milton will jump out, and she says "He won't." Like she knew? Maybe she was supposed to kill Tyson then, or just isolate him for Roman. Maybe Roman was supposed to kill Jennifer in the basement but didn't when it was Gale instead. When Angelina appears dead, I guess we only get a brief glimpse where maybe she could've survived. It doesn't seem *that* strange if she survived and it was never mentioned before. I don't think she ran off, because a victim whose corpse disappeared would be much more suspicious. For whatever reason she was delayed in helping Roman at the finale, or maybe she didn't want to help him, or maybe he'd told her he didn't want her help at that part, and then when she realized the tables had turned, she concealed her role as accomplice. Or maybe it was the plan, so she could pose as a victim, say she didn't react to Gale and Angelina because she was in shock. To have Angelina back as GF would be more out of left field than Stu, and therefore could work better. Everyone's been expecting Stu for so long, that if they do it, it's obvious, and if they don't, it's obvious that they didn't because to do so would've been too obvious. And they wouldn't even have to bring Emily Mortimer back. Maybe she got plastic surgery over the years to change her appearance to that of Anna Camp. Maybe she was pregnant by Roman too. Or John Milton.

I can even see her crazed monologue at Sidney, revealing her motive: "And you survived, yet again, which wasn't the plan. But I could allow it, because I knew you were suffering. For God's sake you even wrote a book about how you were nothing but a victim! And then your cousin tried to kill you too! I mean for fuck's sake even your own family hates you that much! They all either get killed, or try to kill you! And people still tried to kill you again after that! So everything was fine. But then there were killings in New York and no one even bothered to go after you! And that made me mad, them ignoring you like old news, because you're the one who's supposed to suffer. Everything was for you, Sidney. And then it occurred to me. It's all about family. And my child is Roman's child. So we're family. And I realized we're going to be the ones to finish this."
