This could have been so good...

The previews made it look like it would be a laugh riot, but unfortunately this doesn't have Paul Feig behind it. Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy are her best films, most can agree.

I thought the film, judging by the trailer, would have something interesting to say about moguls, public figures, etc and some decent satire but it didn't. Don't get me wrong, I laughed my ass off in quite a few scenes, but overall, this was not as good as it could have been. Some of the gags were tired (McCarthy falls...how many times has this been done?) and it should have never tried to humanize her. If it were a film about a badass jerk who doesn't turn out to be lovable after learning a life lesson in the climax, I think I would have enjoyed this much more. If this had better writers behind it (McCarthy shouldn't write and neither should her husband) and a better director than Ben Falcone, this could have been an excellent comedy. Instead it will be remembered as a low point of her career, along with Tammy and Identity Thief. Shame.
