MM is a power player in Hollywood, so why does she keep making crap?
I was hesitant to watch Spy because of her track record but it/she was excellent. This looks like a return to crap for her.
She may love her husband and they seem sweet together, but that doesn't translate to good movies. Leave him at home.
And why is Peter Dinklage doing *beep* movies? Between this and Pixels, he should fire his agents.
She and her hubby wrote it. I agree it's crap.
shareI think these are some of the reasons she makes these comedies with her diretor-husband:
1) To cash in. She's already in her mid forties; she knows her leading lady career can't continue for ever. These films are cheap and she probably gets a huge cut of the backend. She and her husband also both gets fees for writing/producing/acting.
2) Work with her husband. Some people like working with their spouse.
3) Give her husband work. His career is nowhere as strong without McCarthy.
3) Creative control. She likes have creative control over her own projects through writing, producing, and being married to the director.
4) She developed the project at her own production company.
Really, she should never make another film wither her untalented husband again, but that's not going to happen.
Yeah, you said it, answered your own question with the comment about Ben... he doesn't know how to write for or direct her. TAMMY was so bad, and this is even worse. Paul Fieg does her well, but... GHOSTBUSTERS don't seem good.
