Spoilers:

Okay, Michelle Darnell obviously screwed Claire over into duping her into thinking she was a 50% owner of the company. However when she sold the company, why didn't she just offer to split the proceeds with Claire?

And by tearing up the contract, she just negated the sale. Darnell still owned the whole company, didn't she?

She could have, but she realized that she sold it because she was afraid of being too friendly with Claire and her daughter. The company meant a lot to them. So she came up with that wacky scheme to steal the contract from Renault.
