Thoughts on Morse's future behavior based on end of finale "Exeunt" - SPOILERS ON FINALE
Had some thoughts on the "Endeavour" Morse's future behavior in the Thaw version of Morse, after watching the final scene between Thursday and Morse.
Until "Endeavour," we all assumed Morse's lonely road was because of a university-age heartbreak too deep to truly heal, then the thing with Joan, and it kept him from trusting.
But...did the writers give us the TRUE background motivation for loner Morse at the end? An epiphany?
We saw Morse's world (and face) shatter when Thursday, in deep distress, had to admit he'd "gone bent" with a payoff over the disaster of his brother and corrupt DI Lott and the whole mess.
He cried out to Morse that (paraphrasing) "That's how they can always get to you Morse. Your family! The people you love."
Did that give Morse his moment of realization? Could Morse find love and get close to people and, in this world of crime, end up like Thursday?
Have the writers thrown a curve ball into our previous Morse assumptions? Did Morse walk away from that devastating scene with his mentor and friend Thursday crying out how they can always get to you through the people you love and think: "I can never let that happen to me!"
