First, his voice, the way he delivers the lines made me salivate. I'm not usually aroused by an "English" accent but my Lord. Secondly, his complete honesty, without any hesitation was incredibly manly. I really appreciated it. I would have forgiven him possibly after some time. The director said that his wife felt she had married down, below herself and was desiring to leave him anyway. This gave her the license she needed to become the victim and allowing her to leave unfeathered with sympathy.

I think men can sense when a women thinks less of him. This may be the reason he cheated. I never believed it was the "wine." I do believe he felt sorry for her but that's not why he *beep* her. He *beep* her because she needed him and he needed to feel needed. Maybe her age of 43 (WHICH IS NOT OLD) made her admire him more, as sometimes age can do ~ give a better appreciation of a life and the beauty of what's truly important. However, in the movie she appeared quite whinny, needy and weak but she was giving birth for the first time ~ it must have been terrifying, especially alone. So I can't judge her too harshly except after the sex act she felt sad which displays a lack of maturity.
