Where was the building ?

He was driving to London, so where was the site of the huge (largest pour in Europe) building that he was constructing meant to be ? Birmingham ? Bristol ?

Probably Birmingham as he passed a sign to Coventry as he was driving towards London.

Birmingham would be too far, he said the journey would take 1h45 depending on traffic.

Yes Birmingham is too far but he did see a sign to Coventry which is about 110 miles away from London. So if he was just on the outskirts of Coventry - and you heard him say that he was hitting 90 mph at some points - then 1 hour 45 would be feasible because the traffic looked fast moving. I'm allowing 25 minutes to get from the M1 to the hospital.

Yes too far - outskirts of Coventry feasible in fast moving traffic on M6 and M1.

In the director's commentary he said it was my hometown - Birmingham. Said it was his hometown too though IMDB says he was born in Marlborough.
