Dark Angel Ripoff

Could this movie possibly have stolen more from the tv series Dark Angel?

Dark Angel had.....

Genetically altered humans, made basically in test tubes....made by an elusive group of scientists, made to be assassins.

The altered humans had super human strengths, with different ones having different strengths. All of them had super human vision and hearing....oh and a bar code tattoo given to them at birth...on the back of their necks/head.

The altered humans broke loose and were fighting against the group wanting to control them.

Sound familiar to anyone who's seen this movie? LOL

And for anyone going into "well it's based on a video game"....the game (like this worthless movie) came out YEARS AFTER Dark Angel.

reply

Both Dark Angel and Hitman Codename 47 came out in 2000.

So there goes your "years after" theory.

reply

Did you delete your own thread or did an administrator do that, because I know that I answered this post before.

As was already said, both show and first game came out in 2000, so there goes your theory. And if you know that the movie is based on game, why don't you accuse the game of stealing instead of the movie? That just doesn't make any sense.

"We're a team, Garrus. There's no Shepard without Vakarian."

reply

Both Dark Angel and the original video game came out in 2000 you retard.

Season 1 of Dark Angel came out in 1999. The game came out a year later. And your calling me a retard?

reply

You are retard though, Dark Angel wasn't even popular back in 2000 to be riped off. Hitman games are way better than crappy Dark Angel tv series.

reply

You are a retard. Dark Angel came out in 2000 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0204993/ where as early production for Hitman goes as far back as 1997 

Seriously, will people over the age of 10 stop using the word "retard"> Y'all sound silly and immature as hell saying it,for one thing. And,yeah, the series Dark Angel was pretty popular when it came out---I know because I used to watch it, and liked it,too.

reply

What are you? An internet grammar nazi?

Sounds like Soldier, which had the same premise and came out in 1998. Hitman video game was created by a Danish company and I'm not sure Dark Angel was widely known at the time.

reply

Everyone seems to forget mentioning one thing....it takes between 3 to 5 years to develop a game so it in its final touches when Dark Angel was released...a rip off was completely impossible

This idea wasn't fresh when both Dark Angel and the original Hitman game came out (in the same year, so neither did rip the other off).

The idea itself is fairly old has been through various incarnations.

As a fan of the show, the games and the (first) movie I'm ebarassed that you represent the fandom here. The game went into production in 1998, long before Dark Angel had its pilot shot

reply

Yeah and the script for 'Dark Angel' was written at least quite a few years before the pilot was shot, genius. And since Cameron worked on/developed this show, it was popular before they even started shooting it. It isn't impossible that script leaked and the game company used it as an idea for a new product.

reply

You're reaching dude, genetic modification and breeding super-soldiers has been an idea around for ages, way before Dark Angel even came to fruition.

Not sure if the script was written years before the pilot came to be but it's easily possible that these two ideas were hatched seperate from each other meanwhile the idea that the writers of the original game maliciously went and ripped off some leaked script (if it even leaked, however you spin it, this is all just speculation on your part...far fetched speculation) in a pre-internet world is highly unlikely.

Keep in mind that rip-offs in the early 2000s were usually done AFTER the original had been released to cash in on that success.

Also I'm pretty sure that Cameron ripped off someone as well with Dark Angel. In fact he was accused of ripping off "Cybersix" and "Friday" in order to create Dark Angel.

Any kind of plagarism accusation here is pretty much based on the fact that the idea of bio engineering has been around for so long that no idea is original anymore

reply

LOL! A "rip-off"?
This is one of the most original game and character ever created.
If anything, it's the other way around. Do yourself a favour - play the games.

reply

So....according to you.....Dark Angel ripped off a game that came out AFTER Dark Angel? LOLOLOL yeah okay.

reply

It's not. However, the 2007 movie used footage from that show for the opening scene.

reply

So the movie used footage from Dark Angel? LOL
