Ridiculous movie mistake

The guy from Homeland said she was 90 - French for "quatre-vingt-dix" i.e. Katira Vingt Dix (literally four-twenty-ten). That's 70.

90 is soixante vingt dix - 60 + 20 + 10 = 90. Do they not have research people on this film?

reply

You're simply confused because you fail at math.

Ninety is indeed quatre-vingt-dix. 4x20 + 10.

reply

...and at spelling.

Her name was "Katia van Dees".

So much fail in that post.

reply

Thank you all for being so smug. I have obviously been adding the constituent numbers rather than multiplying and adding them.

I have clearly failed at math but you all clearly fail at politeness.

reply

So says the person who went out of his way to try to publicly shame the filmmakers because of what turned out to be his own personal failings.

That irony itself seems pretty worthy of... ridicule.

reply

Not about math, but about French... This is first week basic French.

There are plenty of mistakes in the movie though, like when she exits the swimming pool there is no sign of her gunshot wound on her right arm which is clearly visible while she's in her bathing suit...

reply

Just wanted to say you made an honest mistake, and your admittance of that mistake and subsequent jab at the pure rudeness of the people correcting you made my week.

reply

I agree with.you, everyone makes mistakes but you forgot this is the internet, one slip and the wolves come to feast on your mistake, as if you just nuked a pre school

reply

There's no such number as soixante-vingt. 70 is soixante-dix. Quatre-vingts is 4 x 20 = 80. And quatre-vingt-dix (as in Katia Van Dees) is 4 x 20 +10 = 90.

You lack the educational credentials to criticise those of the film-makers.

If you'd entitled your post, "Is this correct?" rather than "Ridiculous movie mistake", I might have been a little more conciliatory. But as it is, you twitted them without any firm basis for doing so. You criticised their French while not demonstrating that you understood French yourself.

reply

No, you are wrong.
