Why market it as a reboot? Works well as a sequel.
Apart form the lead actors, there is continuity between the two films.

I wish I had more to reply but I definitely find what you say to be interesting and I feel the same way ! MAYBE...they wanted to consider this one a reboot if they had been planning on making more movies to follow it...?
