Bruno Ganz - Missed Opportunity

I'm a fan of both Stellan Skarsgård and Bruno Ganz, and I watched this hoping to see two film legends share some great onscreen moments. Unfortunately, however, this doesn't happen.

Ganz doesn't even show up until more than halfway through the film, and because his character is the leader of a Serbian gang, he has only a few lines -- just some short sentences in Serbian that Ganz obviously learned phonetically, plus a few lines in English. When he and Skarsgård finally do meet, at the very end of the film, there isn't even any dialogue.

Not that I didn't like the film, I did. I appreciate the mix of drama and dark humor. But I think the producers missed a great opportunity for two great actors to go toe-to-toe onscreen. Ganz could have played the brother, with the two speaking English so the wife/girlfriend wouldn't understand.

Oh, well!
