Great stuff...

Have to say, from somebody who listened, then watched the League of Gentlemen - which I enjoyed, then watched Psychoville, I've been thoroughly enjoying this series.

For me, it's been the best thing they've done so far. Dark, funny, well crafted, well written, and I especially like the individual stories per episode lack-of-arc.

Sometimes when people have been working with each other, over time you can often observe a sort of decline - perhaps some self-satisfaction, smugness, or arrogance seems apparent - but I have to say, this - for me at least - has been completely refreshing.

I have to agree. I think there's a maturity in the writing here which has retained the blackness and viciousness of, say, The League of Gentlemen, yet has all but dispensed with the juvenile silliness that show had tendencies to.

Totally agree - I always enjoyed their previous work - but with the League of Gentlemen, and perhaps to a slightly lesser degree, Psychoville there was always a little something, minor, but all the same there, that just irritated at times, or seemed to spoil them slightly. I did like the homage to Rope, though, in Psychoville.

Whereas this series, I've enjoyed every one so far. Just started watching The Last Gasp, my TiVo records them, and I tend to watch bits of things when I can grab a few minutes.

As you say, it's like there's seems a maturity that's happened, but it doesn't seem to show any contempt for the audience, arrogance, or complacency that you sometimes get when people have been making TV for quite a while together.

For me, it's the best of that ilk I've seen for quite some time. They seem to be maturing like fine wine.

Maybe it's time to watch The League of Gentleman again, as a kid It used to scare me so I would never understand it.

I'm in my twenties now and love this and Psychoville,
